Our Approach
Our focus is to prepare children for an ever-changing world by equipping them with independence, a sense of curiosity and a love of learning.
Education
We take pride in our unique educational experience that draws inspiration from renowned pedagogies such as Montessori, Reggio Emilia and High Scope. Our approach is a carefully curated blend that selects the best elements from each methodology to create a specialised and holistic learning environment. This fusion allows us to provide a well-rounded educational experience that encompasses the principles of hands-on exploration, child-led learning and respect for the individuality of each child. Our dynamic and responsive curriculum is designed to develop early literacy and numeracy skills, enhance problem-solving abilities, and encourage a love for exploration and discovery. We work closely with each child, providing individualised attention to support their unique learning styles and needs whilst promoting key cognitive, social, and emotional abilities. Our personalised approach prepares every child in school readiness, ensuring a smooth and successful transition to their next school.
Outdoor Learning
Our nursery boasts the largest garden space of any nursery in the Royal Borough of Chelsea and Kensington; a one-of-a-kind outdoor space full of trees, plants, insects, mud and endless possibilities. We understand the importance of children exploring the world around them and we believe strongly in the power of nature to ignite a child’s imagination. As well as the benefits to health, fitness and gross motor skills, a natural environment also provides a measured degree of risk, such as climbing a tree or navigating uneven terrain. This helps children learn to assess and manage risks, building resilience and confidence. We are privileged to have such a magnificent outdoor space, providing ample opportunities for children and teachers alike to engage with the outdoors, immerse themselves in nature and reap the well-established advantages of outdoor activities.
Nutrition
We’re passionate about nurturing healthy habits and a love for diverse flavours. We partner with a specialist in Early Years catering to provide nutritious and delicious seasonal meals that are freshly cooked everyday. And our commitment to nutrition extends beyond the plate; children actively participate in weekly cooking sessions, and witness the entire journey from planting seeds in our garden to creating their very own snacks. Our curriculum also puts healthy-eating front and centre, highlighting a ‘Vegetable of the Week,’ to engage children in discussions about why these foods are beneficial, and emphasising the importance of healthy eating in a fun and age-appropriate manner. At Little Cherubs, we’re not just filling plates; we’re fostering a lifelong love for healthy eating to ensure the children have a positive relationship with food, embrace the magic of cooking and learn to become food explorers!
Community
At our nursery we are devoted to providing enriching and hands-on experiences that extend beyond the classroom. We believe in actively involving children in understanding their local community by organising a variety of educational trips and interactive learning opportunities. Through these excursions, our young learners explore the local neighbourhood and gain valuable insights into the world around them. Whether it’s visits to the local library or the Natural History Museum, trips to the park or interactions with local heroes like police officer and firefighters, we aim to cultivate a genuine understanding of community whilst inspiring curiosity and building a sense of belonging.
